Electrical Design Engineer

Job: Full-Time with up to 25% travel and opportunities for temporary extended foreign assignments
Basic Requirements:
  • Degree - 4 Year Degree, BSEE, BSCE or equivalent.
  • Experience - 5 years for Mid-Level and 10 years for Senior Level, designing complex integrated electrical controls systems for industrial automation or process control.
  • US Citizen, citizen of Canada or Mexico, or legally authorized to work in the US

Our Specialty Lighting Division provides unique lighting systems seen on the world’s best known iconic architecture and lighted costumes. Headquartered in Winter Garden (Orlando area), they also have offices in Shanghai and Hong Kong.
The Job
You will be an important member of the engineering team as you take the vision of your clients’ ride and show designers and bring them to life for millions of people to enjoy – safely. You’ll participate in team and customer meetings to identify requirements, specifications, time lines and customer expectations. You will have significant responsibilities for electrical and controls system design, specification, document control, FATs and SATs, installation and commissioning of your designs. You will coordinate with your software development group to create the software you need to properly manage your design and will occasionally assist with software creation or bug fixes. At times, you will be called upon to apply solid troubleshooting skills while working with other engineers and our skilled technicians in our production shop or on site to complete our turn-key solutions for our clients. The position reports to the Principle Engineer for Control Systems Hardware and the Engineering Manager.

Job Requirements (The more you have, the better we like it!)
  • BSEE, BSCE or equivalent. BSEE preferred.
  • 5 years of experience designing, building, testing, installing and commissioning complex industrial type automation or process control systems.
  • Advanced experience with Allen-Bradley platforms preferred.
  • Knowledge of ControlLogix, GuardLogix and Factory Talk View HMI software and drive configuration.
  • Experience with automation systems components including PLCs, HMIs, industrial drives, variable frequency drives, motors, servo drives of hydraulic servo controls, industrial communication networks, sensors, power management, surge suppression and interfacing with electronic, hydraulic and pneumatic system components.
  • Strong understanding of motion control principles and applications.
  • Solid understanding of electrical schematics and drawings.
  • Hardware design skills such as panel layout for industrial controls.
  • Experience conducting hazards analyses and life-safety design as a part of the design process.
  • Experience creating design, maintenance and operation documentation following documentation standards.
  • Experience creating plans for FAT and SAT acceptance testing.
  • Ability to create design drawings using AutoCAD.
  • Proficiency with MS Word and MS Excel.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of industry standards (UL508A, NFPA79, IEC/EN 62061, EN ISO 13849, NEC)
