Senior Controls Engineer

Opportunity Summary:

The Senior Controls Engineer will be part of the control and automation team and will be responsible for complete system design for machine control applications. The role will have an emphasis on developing software for control systems using Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and Human Machine Interfaces (HMI). The position reports into a highly profitable smaller business unit of a large corporation with household name recognition, providing the flexible work environment of a small company with the resources and opportunities for career growth of a large corporation.

Responsibilities:
  • Designs and develops PLC-based control systems for machine control applications.
  • Utilize modern programming techniques to develop PLC programs and HMI interfaces.
  • Implements, tests and debugs applications for new product development and sustaining engineering projects using PLC’s and HMI’s.
  • Develops software documentation.
  • Works as collaborative team member in engineering projects.
  • Performs analyses and resolves issues using problem solving techniques
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering related discipline or an equivalent amount of education and work experience.
  • Experience with PLC programming on small to medium size machine control applications.
  • Experience with computer based form development tools (e.g., VB forms, JAVA, HTML, CSS, etc.)
  • Experience with industrial communication protocols (Ethernet, MODBUS etc.)
  • Working knowledge of digital and analog instrumentation, PLC’s, and HMI’s.
  • Knowledge of computer programming languages such as visual basic/C/C++
