Field Service Engineer - Automation and Controls

Work remotely for leading industrial services company in Southeastern MA as a Field Service Engineer with Industrial Automation and Controls

Responsibilities:
  • Installs, troubleshoots, and maintains products/equipment.
  • Identifies, analyzes, and repairs product failures
  • Perform service and provide advice and recommendations to customers as requested
  • Perform installation, commissioning and start-up as requested
  • Conform to codes, rules, regulations and safety standards associated with company protocol, state and federal regulations
  • Document time and materials
Requirements:
  • At least 5 years’ experience with one or more of the following: wire and cable, web handling, waste water, water filtration, blown and cast film, textile and converted textile, paper mills, rolling mills, extrusion, non-woven’s, rubber, cranes and hoists, coating lines, ovens and oxidizers, motion control.
  • Diagnosis, troubleshooting, upgrades and commissioning
  • Familiarity with DC and AC drives, controls, PLCs, HMIs and the ability to modify some code in the field
  • Ability to read and understand complex schematics, drawings, electro-mechanical diagrams
  • Dedication to maximum machine performance and consistency of customer product
  • Technical degree in Engineering or related field preferred, but not required
  • Skilled with commissioning, trouble-shooting and upgrades
  • Desire to seek systems integration challenges and new technology
  • Innovative problem solving and trouble shooting skills
  • Must maintain high legal, moral and ethical standards
  • Good communication skills
  • Self-directed and motivated
  • Ability to travel
    • If local to Fall River, MA: 30% travel, most regional and some scheduled global travel
    • If remote: 75% travel
 
Experience with most of the following:
  • Reading AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical drawings
  • Familiarity with AC and DC drives, PLCs, and HMIs
Hardware:
  • Allen Bradley PowerFlex Drives
  • Allen Bradley PLCs – Typically CompactLogix and ControlLogix, knowledge of other PLC brands useful.
  • Allen Bradley PanelView Plus
  • Industrial computer running Factory View SE, RSView32, or other brands of HMIs.
  • Parker Drives
  • Software
  • Rockwell RSLogix 5000
  • Rockwell RSLogix 500
  • Rockwell Factory View Studio (ME and SE)
  • Rockwell Drive Software
  • Parker Drive Software
  • Familiarity in the area of NEC, NFPA, UL and CE codes is helpful.
