Software Engineer - Manufacturing

Forests products company is searching for a Software Engineer or Computer Engineer to help to create, develop, and optimize programs for high performance machines that break down initial log cuts, create 3D imaging, and provide best yield per market value. These programs will communicate to the PLC's controlling the sawing / cutting equipment in the mill.

  • Engineer high-performance, low-latency software to optimize the production and yield during manufacturing.
  • Architect complex algorithms to mathematically model multiple dependent geometric axes.
  • Collaborate closely with Control Systems Designers and Mechanical engineers to create solutions that meet production requirements.
  • Develop and implement updates for a variety of existing computer programs.
  • Provide some phone support for division technicians for new and existing software.
  • Some travel to other sites in CA and WA, a few days per month average

Must Have Qualifications:
  • BS Computer Science, Computer Engineering or comparable degree
  • 2 years min. work experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Thorough knowledge of computer programming, C++, Visual Basic and PLC's
  • Good communication skills
  • Solid understanding of geometry and trigonometry.
