To continue doing so successfully, they need a Process Controls & Automation Manager to lead the way as they upgrade their facilities with state-of-the-art automation systems.
 
This opportunity will be based out of the company’s headquarters in a northeast suburb of the Twin Cities.

Process Controls & Automation Manager Responsibilities:
  • Lead process controls group in the upgrade of process facilities
  • Design control systems for plant process upgrades, including control panel design, PLC programming, and HMI programming. 
  • Design, configure, integrate, and implement process control solutions for the chemical manufacturing industry including batch software, PLC / DCS systems, HMI packages, SCADA systems and PC networking technology. 
  • Establish “best practices” and standards in regards to instrumentation, control system architecture, process control, etc.
  • Advance the company’s integration of control and business LAN / MES (manufacturing execution system)
  • Help drive overall development and maintenance of the production facilities’ PLCs (control LAN) and the development of the interaction between the controls/PLC infrastructure and the business reporting (business LAN).
  • Provide supervision for controls systems integrators and team startup assistance as needed.
  • Daily responsibilities of the controls team include solutions implementation and support of plant and project objectives.  This position demands a team player approach to project execution and process improvements. This position will be critical in leading our plants in identifying technologies to be used for new applications, the extension of current architectures and improving the automation and reporting of the operating facilities.   

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Chemical Preferred).
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in manufacturing, focusing on Process Controls Engineering including their interaction with business reporting systems (like MES). Experience in batch chemical manufacturing is preferred.
  • Project management experience with controls projects.
  • Capable of working with cross-functional teams in pursuit of a common goal.
  • Willing to “get hands dirty” by working “in the field” at manufacturing facilities.
  • Technology and batch process manufacturing expertise in all of the following project phases: requirements documentation, detailed design generation, implementation, system integration, testing, and on-site startup
  • 5 or more years of PLC experience (Allen Bradley Preferred).
  • Proven experience with any of the following HMI or SCADA software packages: Wonderware, Rockwell, or equivalent.  
  • Experience with Rockwell RSView Studio 5000, FactoryTalk View SE & ME, and AutoCAD preferred.
  • Willing to travel 25 – 30% of the time (one week a month).
