Electrical Controls Engineer - Customer Service

Our client leverages nearly 40 years of engineering and manufacturing experience to produce high-quality hydraulic press systems for a wide range of industries and applications. They work in a variety of industries including aerospace & defense, energy/oil & gas, automotive, construction, agricultural and more ranging from small, independent manufacturers to multi-national corporations with global footprints. 
 
Our client is in need of an Electrical Controls Engineer to be responsible for electrical system hardware design and programming for projects including technology upgrades and total electrical system retrofits of existing equipment. In addition to system design, the individual will periodically offer technical support to customers on all company products in regard to electrical and control technology needs.  This individual will serve as a primary electrical engineering resource within our client's growing technical services group, which focuses on maximizing the customer experience via the optimization of existing equipment.

 
OPPORTUNITY – ELECTRICAL CONTROLS ENGINEER, CS
Our client is in need of an Electrical Controls Engineer to be responsible for electrical system hardware design and programming for projects including technology upgrades and total electrical system retrofits of existing equipment. In addition to system design, the individual will periodically offer technical support to customers on all company products in regard to electrical and control technology needs.  This individual will serve as a primary electrical engineering resource withinour client's growing technical services group, which focuses on maximizing the customer experience via the optimization of existing equipment.
 
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Serves as primary interface between customer and company while providing technical expertise and support in response to customers’ electrical system needs.
  • Assists in the selection and implementation of company solutions and technologies in order to solve evolving customer challenges.
  • Designs electrical back panels for use in electrical system upgrades / retrofits, including component selection, layout, etc.
  • Programming of PLC’s and HMI’s for use in electrical system upgrades / retrofits.
  • Aides in the integration of automation equipment into existing press systems or larger work cells.
  • Participates in solving and documenting electrical system trouble shooting calls and customer support needs and requirements, working either directly with the customer or with Beckwood’s internal team of electrical, hydraulic and structural resources.
  
 REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, manufacturing or related discipline preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ related technical experience
  • Knowledge and expertise in programmable logic controllers (Allen Bradley, Micrologix, CompactLogix), HMI’s, motion control, PC control.  Commonly used programming languages include:  Allen Bradley RS 500 & 5000 Logix software, Factory Talk and Automation Direct software.
  • Additional knowledge of programming skills in Visual Basic, C++ and other platforms are desirable.
  • Experience with designing machine based Ethernet communication, data acquisition and remote machine accesses. 
  • Superior technical ability and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Experience with AutoCad electrical or Solidworks electrical design software increases candidates’ appeal.
  • Some travel to customer locations (less than 25%)
