Business Development Manager

Our client is a division of a successful engineering firm. They specialize in designing and manufacturing control panels for OEM’s, systems integrators, and end users. They serve a wide range of industries including but not limited to: Food Processing, Beverage, Pharmaceutical, Parcel, Water/Waste Water, Bio-Fuels & Ethanol, Oil & Gas, Power Distribution and Transmission, multiple OEMs and others.

They are currently looking for an experienced Business Development Manager who is a self-starter, has an outgoing personality, and is capable of presenting himself or herself in a professional manner. You will be responsible for selling control panel design and manufacturing, and automation/programming services to clients nation-wide with a focus on Minnesota and Iowa. You will perform account management activities to build and maintain relationships with customers and act as a resource and facilitator to resolve customer service issues as they arise.
  • Qualify and pursue new business based on potential revenue, profit and timely close
  • Identify decision makers within prospective client organizations and establish meaningful contact through cold calling, emails, social networking, and meetings
  • Participate in business/social/professional organizations and events, including trade shows, that promote or generate business relationships
  • Interface with clients, vendors, and project team
  • Review specifications, and develop and prepare proposals
  • Develop and participate in sales presentations
  • Sell the company's "total value" in terms of quality, price, delivery and service
  • Manage time and prioritize tasks to achieve results within cost and schedule constraints
  • Document/quantify results of business development activities:
    • Effectively organize and track leads;
    • Participate in regular business development meetings and coordinate activity with business development and marketing professionals
    • Submit activity (sales/revenue and projection) reports as required by Director of Operations
    • Track and promptly enter activities and expenses
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field; and/or four years of service with the military with relevant working experience; and/or training in sales or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Knowledge of computers and relevant software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite, word processing, spreadsheets, presentations and other software applications
  • 3 years experience related to selling technical products and/or services
  • 3 years CRM experience required
  • Technical knowledge of concepts, theories and applications for implementation of large capital projects
  • Ability to establish network of industry business contacts in various vertical markets
  • History of successfully achieving, or exceeding, sales targets or quotas
  • Excellent written verbal communication skills with clients and in-house support staff
  • Strong understanding of customer and market dynamics and requirements
  • Demonstrated independent worker requiring minimal direction
